Given the recently grown popularity of urban agriculture and the positive impact it can have on cities, architects, designers, and planners have a stake in being involved in their planning and design. Locating new urban farms in areas where food access is low but public transportation use is high, the impact and popularity of an urban farm can be greatly enhanced. This thesis seeks to site a new series of urban farms along the L light train route in Chicago, IL. The new farm will both grow and sell food, act as a market hub for foods being grown at nearby urban farms and gardens, and also contain public outreach programming such as its demonstration kitchen and garden.
