As I learn more about music, I noticed many people are confused between the difference of rap and hip-hop. It’s pretty simple, rap is a genre of music mixing together poetry, rhythm and beats. Rap, is music that expresses various rappers/artist life. It is what I call ” biography music”. (Of course rappers fabricate their life stories)

Hip-Hop is the culture of Rap, it involves street dancing,art work “graffiti”, DJ’s and clothes. Hip-Hop is its own culture, that was formed in the black community. Hip-Hop is what I call “the black life style” , because it generates from black people, revealing the music, dance and art side of the community.

* Rap started in West Africa, which generated to America through the Caribbean Island.

*Hip-Hop became a culture after rap was presented in America.

* New York is considered the “birth place of rap and Hip-Hop”, because once rap came to America it was discovered in New York.

**A group called “The Last Poets” were making rap music before the infamous “Sugar Hill Gang”
