R6-residence
Programmatically, this design contains the living and work spaces of a sculptor and a musician, as well as a common shared environment. Where the ground floor is the residence, the upper floor is a studio with exposure to natural sunlight.
The massing morphology is informed by view orientation, setback requirements, and a crystalline or grid effect, all of which are driven by the distribution and articulation of interior spaces. Rather than using the faceting logics that are geometry-driven through advanced software, the project privileges the more irregular faceting logics that are matter-driven . This was tightly coordinated with the plan to ensure autonomy of external form from the demands and desires of the interior.
