Given the site, Ballona Wetlands, which are one of the few wetlands that still, remain in LA, one of the main objectives was to preserve the wetlands. The PTSD center is elevated sixteen feet off the ground gradually rising to a peak of fifty feet. A double cantilevered truss system containing the required program hovers over the landscape. It is able to absorb mass amounts of water; therefore, it is key to flood control as well as redistributing water to the local water supply of underground rivers. It is crucial that the site remains a wetland, and will continue to be a home to all its inhabitants and wildlife.
