The objective of this studio was to create a Repository for the collection and display of an object of choice. I chose to design a Repository for Video Games- old and new. Over the years, video games have evolved from simple, single-player household novelties to social and virtual phenomenon worldwide. They continue to advance with technology, therefore, their repository must be able to respond appropriately to this change over time and be structurally flexible. That is why I looked to the Metabolists for inspiration. Metabolist designs relied heavily on advanced technology, and they often consisted of adaptable plug-in mega structures- large scale, flexible, and expandable structures that evoked the processes of organic growth. As said by Kisho Kurakawa when referencing his Nakigan Capsule, "The lifespan of [the] capsules was not a mechanical one, but rather a social one, implying that it is the changing human needs and social relationship that necessitated such periodic replacement."
