Objective/Thesis statement
Designing architecture without nostalgic influences and utopic ideals, which hinder design opportunities, leads to community growth.
Program
A campus-like sustainable manufacturing firms main office/ headquarters, with sustainable energy generation, manufacturing plant, and clean water act. Bring the main office to the downtown area gives room for community involvement and learning, with the possibility of growth of knowledge and a domino effect towards a greener community physically and mentally. Three sites where needed to obtain this program, one downtown for the main office, another at the formally known as the Mound Plant, and a site across the Miami River so the clean water act could be enforced and hydropower. Extending the Main Street activity to align with the city’s new river front park proposal.
Obstacles
Designing in a historic area while creating a present day building that can cohesively melt with the surrounding context and facades. Having a program that can encourage community learning, integration and gathering.
