The program called for a blackbox theater to be designed foe the Electron Music and Arts Foundation. The design intent was to capture the identity of the street and the highline. By creating a building that not only faced the street, but also faced the highline, I could activate the different levels of the building with different programmatic elements that were specific to the type of people that would be coming to this music center. To activate the highline, a restaurant would be at the same level and be an extension of the entry, adjacent to the site.  To activate the street, small openings were inserted into the exterior shell of the building allowing people to see into the sunken theater, if the artist allowed.
