Village Hilltop is a major redeveloped of the historic Northampton State Hospital, which was originally erected in 1856, and its grounds. The first phase include the renovation of two abandoned dormitory buildings to create 33 new units of housing. The Master Plan for the Village include 476,000 sf of mixed-use commercial space, live-work studios, a childcare center, a potential community center and museum, a 60-80 unit assisted living facility, and 207 residential units. Fifty percent of the residential units are designated as afforable housing.
