Office Floor Renovation in Porto, Portugal

At the start, the space was a fragmented labyrinth, with little light and unfortunate appearance.
It was the result of a terrible intervention in the 90’s that practically ruined the character of the 16th century building.
Due to those facts the intervention had to be both esthetic
renovation and functional improvement.
Now, the office floor is a result of the will to amplify light and
transparency, and of the need to upgrade and simplify the
organization of the offices and common spaces.
A fluid and continuous circulation was achieved through
surgical openings in the thick walls.
The middle patio was the anchor of the design process, and the historic typology is underlined and embraced by a central common room.
With a low budget, the construction of these premises had
controlled costs, but pursued an elegant outcome.
The opaque surfaces - the floors and walls are white. The offices are separated from the circulation by transparent glass limits and white glass doors.
A white translucent curtain can introduce privacy, if necessary, and will bring voluptuousness to these spaces that need to seduce its first clients.
