habitat for humanity home | calgary, AB | senior research studio | winter 2012
In the past the home was a reflection of the dweller’s struggle to survive. We have since lost the capacity to understand our homes. This project approaches the design of a sustainable home through the lens of tradition and aims to re-assert old ideas into a contemporary context. Organized around a hearth, the exposed timber structure and archetypical pitched roof call upon subconscious memories of the home in the pursuit of reviving the connection of the dweller to the dwelling.
