This hall table, a smaller version of one I build on a semi-production basis, was built for a client in Manhattan to serve as a focal point for their apartment entryway. The top is veneered in reconstituted macassar ebony, which is actually a different wood called obeche that is dyed and sliced to look like the more expensive and endangered ebony. It is available in 4 x 8 sheets and is consistent from sheet to sheet. The drawer faces are veneered in curly cherry and the legs are solid cherry. I build the legs to be removable for cheaper shipping. The mirror is cherry with a black lacquered accent around the front edge to visually tie it to the table.
