Beer traces back 6,000 years and is a prominent part of culture all over the world. The Donner Brewing Company will be a local production micro-brewery and pub that will serve the entire Tahoe Basin. This project aims to provide the historic and quaint town of Truckee with an identity and a sense of community. The designed Donner Brewing Company and affiliate building, the Union Pacific Railroad museum and restaurant will be located in the rail-yard master plan near the heart of the historic Commercial Row district. This project will serve as a multi-functional space for citizens of Truckee and tourists alike. The project will educate the community about Truckee’s beginnings as a center for lumber, ice and the Transcontinental Railroad in the early twentieth century. At the same time, the brewing company will cater to the values and entertainment of the popular craft beer-drinking demographic that exists in the high Sierra.
