Queens Boulevard Central Park

Queens Boulevard is the widest street in New York City. The combination of its immense width, heavy automobile traffic, and thriving commercial scene make it one of the most dangerous thoroughfares in New York City today.

This project proposes to completely rethink how the boulevard could function to afford greater civic, economic, and environmental benefits to the surrounding area. It proposes to turn the 12 lanes of roadway between Grand Avenue and 64th Road into a Central Park. The park would extend over the Long Island Expressway rather than under it, and drape over cross-streets to maintain a continuous park surface to allow through traffic to pass beneath it.

I conceived and designed this project and used the Adobe Suite, Sketchup, and hand-drawings to illustrate the design.
