Working at R. Morgan Rolantz Architects in NYC, I was asked as an intern to design a  trash can cover for us to fabricate for a client.  The firm was working on renovations on her house and as I was completing the site survey for the lower terrace, it was requested that the design team find a way to hide her rubbermaid outdoor trash cans.  I designed a box that was custom fitted for her three cans and fit into her terrace taking up the smallest amount of space.  The cover used a repetitive design for ease of fabrication and to not take away from the building, which had landmark status.  It was simple and elegant but vented to allow for draining during adverse weather conditions.
