The design took advantage of the irregular site by stepping back the mass of the building, allowing the building container to appear much smaller from the street, thus maintaining the scale of the neighborhood buildings. All of the adult living areas face the large open rear yard. The sloping roof and projecting garage/service wing create an entry motor court, connecting the street to the house.
