Electric Vehicle Charging Station in Northern Liberties, Phila.

this studio project was to develop a hybrid, multi-use program with the foundation being a sustainable service station for electric vehicles. this includes the charging/fueling infrastructure and service/maintenance bays. the additional program that would be developed was to be specific to a rigorous study of the site and neighborhood assigned. demographic, desirability, viability, feasibility, and impact all were considered.

MISSION STATEMENT: electric vehicles are only a partial solution to a cleaner environment and healthier lifestyle. in order to decrease energy consumption, there needs to be greater societal awareness about lifestyle choices. philadelphia, and more specifically Northern Liberties, has very little experience with electric vehicles. in order to introduce the new technology to Philadelphia, it is important that it roots itself in something that can connect to the local demographic and enhance the community. at the same time the program should also reinforce an active lifestyle and a decrease in energy consumption through the introduction of electric vehicles.
