The Puget Sound Marine Center is a marine life research facility located on Piers 62 & 63 along the downtown Seattle waterfront. Adjacent to the aquarium, the center brings industry back to the central waterfront, focusing on local habitats. The concept for the building looks at the deconstruction of the pier. As the pier deconstructs, opportunities for education and habitat restoration occur in the water while the pier itself takes on a new form. The Puget Sound Marine Center engages the public, connects downtown to the waterfront, and encourages development that enhances both natural and urban life.
