Hotel P.S. 186 Harlem will celebrate the rich heritage, uniqueness and diverse cultures that make up the community of Hamilton Heights. Built in 1903, the building has served as a source of community pride and is thought to be among the finest schools ever built in New York City. Its ornate towers proudly jut above the surrounding buildings. Its intricate masonry and elaborate stonework are a testament to lost arts. Internally, the original materials of marble and dark wood along with signature colors of purple and gold will live again. With a nod to days gone by mixed with modern innovative technology, Public School 186 will lead the way into a new Harlem renaissance.
