800-Bed addition for the Women’s Correction Facility at Ryker’s Island. The new 800 bed housing building is located at the end of extended circulation spine, continuing the concept of direct access from housing to program areas.  The new building has 5 floors, each containing individual housing pods and local program cores.  A local control room provides back up for the officer stationed in the housing pod.  The plan provides clear sights lines to all inmate occupied areas, backed up by CCTV, monitored by central control room.  Outdoor recreation for the facility is centralized, located within the square donut, directly off the circulation spine.
