This project was designed for the House of the Future competition hosted by Buildner Architecture Competitions and the Government of Dubai.
The Cascade House recontextualizes the traditional Arabic courtyard house by inverting the traditional central courtyard into the form of a vertical interior space that connects and frames several living areas. The airy, open space acts as a centerpiece for the home's interior, while stacks of precast concrete windows perforate the walls and further connect the space with smaller courts that envelop the house. On the side opposite from the vertical interior space, bedrooms and other private areas are protected by a central wall interlaced with shelving that offers a malleable and easily personalized divider.
