The project is nestled beside Green Island Lake, a 1,500-mu (approximately 100-hectare) ecological gem in the heart of Foshan City, Guangdong, China. Adhering to the philosophy of "Limited yet Boundless," design studio c.dd captures the essence of life, creating an enduringly vibrant living space. The design blends tranquility with nature, achieving a balance between physical functionality and spiritual serenity, elevating the living experience to new heights. Every return home becomes a journey of spiritual rejuvenation.

Within the lake area, trees like camphor, maple, and banyan flourish at varying heights. At the center of the lake lies a "heart-shaped island," home to thousands of rare herons. In the mornings and evenings, these birds take flight in unison, filling the sky with a mesmerizing dance of wings, creating a scene reminiscent of a "paradise of birds."

Longing for a life close to nature, the client chose to settle by the lakeside, embracing a peaceful lifestyle and reconnecting with the natural world.

01 Exploring boundless realms in limited space

Breaking away from traditional boundaries, the design features a fluid layout that redefines comfortable life. By eliminating physical barriers, spaces flow seamlessly from the entrance to the living room, study, dining room, kitchen, and beyond. This shift from monotony to diversity, from static to dynamic, cultivates an unrestricted spatial rhythm that harmonizes with the natural flow of life.

By transcending the visible boundaries of function and space, the design inspires the creation of scenes tailored to functionality. Through keen observation of life's moments, c.dd crafts a space that adapts to various experiences— whether watching a movie, reading, enjoying the view, resting, parenting, or working— each shaped by time, users, and activities. This approach infuses everyday life with endless enjoyment.

The space's flexibility sparks boundless imagination of future life, creating a multi-dimensional environment where social gatherings, leisure, and serene living integrate. Blending freedom with inclusiveness, and individuality with independence, each corner of the space fosters limitless possibilities of life.

02 Embracing curves to unlock diverse possibilities

As Antoni Gaudí once said, "There are no straight lines or sharp corners in nature. The straight line belongs to men, the curved line belongs to God." Embracing this philosophy, c.dd incorporated curved designs to craft a soft, inviting environment. Gentle, concealed lighting flows from a curved ceiling, creating a serene visual experience that gently embraces life. This residence not only showcases architectural brilliance but also captures the inherent charm of nature.

A natural light palette is complemented by elegant blue and bright yellow accents, reflecting a diverse and vibrant life attitude. The open layout breaks away from traditional living room conventions, allowing space to flow freely and encouraging family interaction. Families can move effortlessly between the sofa and coffee table, sharing moments of boundless connection.

The windows seamlessly merge indoor life with the natural surroundings, immersing occupants in expansive greenery. Inside, the warmth of wood harmonizes with the simplicity of stone and the softness of fabric, crafting exquisitely warm and natural spaces. The dining room's panoramic windows invite gentle daylight, creating a dining experience amidst nature, offering an unparalleled sense of openness and transparency.

03 Broadening life's boundaries in a boundless realm

After exploring the "boundlessness" of external space, c.dd turned its focus to the residents, carefully analyzing their essential needs. The space is envisioned as a bridge that connects individuals with family warmth, fosters harmony among groups, and resonates with contemporary emotions. By addressing both physical comfort and spiritual solace, it becomes an organic extension of the residents' lifestyle, with functionality tailored to user needs.

In the master bedroom, a customized table crafted in calming wood tones stands in striking contrast to the soft hues and warm materials surrounding it, becoming a visual focal point in this private sanctuary. With its well-arranged design, it enhances the artistic atmosphere, allowing residents to enjoy a more immersive and personalized experience, whether working, dressing, or  making up.

The concept of boundlessness embraces the exploration and contemplation of infinity, encompassing limitless extension, creativity, and possibilities. In this boundless residence, with a perspective unanchored by convention, the design transcends existing frameworks and a fixed mindset, inviting residents to contemplate, explore, create, and enjoy in a state of openness and freedom. With an ever-evolving narrative, the design continually expands and redefines the boundaries of space, extending life’s possibilities beyond spatial limitations and embodying a passion for life that is both limitless and enduring.
