WALKABLE - CITY

An urban project that studied the underground Atlanta area and how the city's walkability can be improved for its demographic.

A city that is walkable always result to a city that thrives. The very idea of a modern urban city arouses visions of bustling sidewalks, vital mass programming and a pedestrian friendly urban core. A walkable street should have four things simultaneously, they include, proper reason to walk, has to be safe and feel safe, walk has to be comfortable and walk has to be interesting.

In Atlanta cars are very dominant, and downtown is a place that’s easy to drive to, but often not worth driving through. Although, there are arterial streets like Peachtree Street and Centennial Olympic Park that runs through Atlanta and interconnected streets that connects the main streets, there are hidden streets that don’t get much attention and therefore makes them less walkable. The goal was to connect the interconnected streets with the non- connected streets and bring in more housing and retail.
