In order to continue its legacy of contributing to the community and educating citizen architects, Rural Studio is beginning to focus on opportunities for improving its campus and to embrace the potential a new fabrication pavilion and woodshop will provide. The existing outdoor covered workspaces and woodshop are limited in space and performance; a new workspace will improve the craft, efficiency, and capabilities of construction.
The first phase, started in September 2014, consists of designing and building the fabrication pavilion, which will provide a covered, level working surface for students to build mockups and test ideas. The second phase will consist of the woodshop. It will sit beneath the roof of the fabrication pavilion and will provide interior space for machining, fabricating, and educating.
