NYC Learning Campus

Over the past year, the number of homeless children in NYC has risen by over 12%.

After researching childhood brain development and behavior, I decided to focus my program around providing the greatest benefit to children between the ages of 13 and 18.

Kinder provides a safe ¨live and learn¨ space to homeless teenagers, with a supportive structure, sense of belonging, and an emphasis on education. Positive surroundings have a greater impact on a teenager´s brain which is still in development, as the brain is not fully developed until the age of 25.

With role models and access to the necessary resources, these kids will become productive members of society. Regardless of the misfortunes that placed them in their current situation, Kinder opens the opportunity to a bright and optimistic future.
