Chicago Mobile Makers

Chicago Mobile Makers is a nonprofit organization that offers youth design-thinking and problem-solving workshops in Chicago communities.

Chicago Mobile Makers creates programming that encourages Chicago youth to become advocates and change makers in their own communities through design focused skill-building workshops.

According to the 2017 NCARB by the Numbers report, 85% of newly licensed architects were white, and 64% were male. Those who are currently not represented need support and guidance for a clearer path to careers in design. Expanding the variety of people entering the field will create more diverse workplaces, leading to more equitable decision making and design. American spaces must reflect America.

For 2.5 years, Chicago Mobile Makers has been providing unique programming for hundreds of Chicago Area youth. In Spring of 2019, we bought a used step van with the intention of converting it into a mobile studio. The Chicago Mobile Makerspace is under construction and will be completed in Spring of 2020.
