With the attention to the transformation and updating phenomenon of old buildings, the project explores the approch of how replacing functions’ affects previous forms. A Building is usually abandoned when it can’t adapt to the users’ demand. The project explores how to renew a brown field by combining it with the surrounding urban elements and adapting it to different functions, even stimulating new demands. Accordingly, I looked for the prototypes conforming to different groups of people’s characteristics and integrated them into the transformation, forming their own internal relations. Through the overlay on time and space, it makes the abandoned factory not only retain its characteristic element of industrial age, but also break its inherent boundary. In this way, the surrounding communities and school students participate in the shaping of new form. Form is retained historically even as the initiating events are lost.
