MASTER PLAN FROM FINAL CAPSTONE PROJECT "THE YARD"

In a city that has become so dense and out of touch with where food comes from, this project aims to preserve some of Los Angeles’ remaining open space and reconnect people to healthy food sources by creating an urban agricultural park.  It serves as the figurative “backyard” for residents living in a dense city neighborhood, showing how food production can be part of the everyday urban experience.  It provides vibrant green spaces for recreation, builds and fosters community and generates a healthy knowledge about food production and preparation, connecting people back to their food source and one another.  It is a demonstration of urban agriculture that not only will stimulate healthy living, but will also influence healthy community design.
