Understanding the Google’s philosophy, the aim of this project is to created workspaces which have a positive impact on productivity, collaboration and inspiration. Located in the City of London, the design for 3 & 10 Finsbury Square is a dramatic response to its context, generating a series of fluid, sinuous floorplates linking to the adjacent buildings. Floor-to-ceiling height glazing flows seamlessly across the undulating facade without interruption, creating a striking new addition to Finsbury Square. The development also visually connects the square with the Honourable Artillery Company grounds, recreating a historic link that has been lost since the mid-18th century. The highly transparent building with a subtle silk-printed design on the outer glass façade functioning as a sunscreen creates a harmonious and versatile working environment for all employees. The building’s insulated façade prevents noise interference from the busy road outside.
Our concept is about dividing the space 3 layers: work, social and relax. Being inspired by London’s gothic architecture and understanding google power worldwide we want to create a ceremony within the space and focus on shape, form and light rather than colour. Using repetition in our design we will create a journey from the first step you take in the building. The desire to create special atmospheres for each different activity and interaction between people and space lead us to the idea of moving boxes. Each box is design for different purposes as individual office, meeting room, think-tank, yoga/ meditation, gaming. Each floor has areas which are outside formal meeting room environments where interaction can occur one to one or in groups. These spaces include lounges, cafeteria and quiet room areas.
