My partner and I were given a site in downtown Miami to build a multi-use skyscraper complex. We felt that skyscrapers typically loose the sense of community. So to try to counter act that affect, we place amenities throughout the towers to promote residents to interact with one another. The amenities created changes in the building form to help promote community interaction.
The pixilation effect was added as a density study of the towers themselves. We found that it allowed for the units to be identifiable from the exterior and created unique relationships from one floor to the next. It also helped to emphasized that our skyscrapers were vertical neighborhoods.
