"Dove and Olive Works, located at 178 South Blvd., provides a place for people to gather and browse an array of products, from children’s picture books about nonviolence to fair-trade gifts. The shop hosts free events, including lectures, book signings and film screenings. Local groups in need of a meeting space are welcome to use the building, as well as the garden. Designing this commercial space took a lot of planning. It had to be done on a very limited budget and time. Putting Olive Oil retail shelves next to book shelves is not an easy things but it comes together beautifully and gracefully. The space had to be flexible for hosting events with many attendees and be handicap accessible. The space is fun, interactive, and conveys the message these two groups are trying to reach.
