Nima Market is thriving with an intensity and energy that is limitless. According to a study by the AMA [ Accra Metropolitan Assembly] most markets in Accra share the same basic needs : infrastructure, sanitation, storage, refrigeration, and drainage. MIC [ Market Incubator of Change ] addresses these basic needs as a first priority to become a model for markets all over Accra. Moreover, an entire economy is generated through this conversion of basic needs to entrepreneurship, through which, given the tools, the people provide for their own change. MIC redefines the concept of the market as a place of exchange of goods as well as ideas - a place of new flows in addition to the current ones, of education and awareness for change.
The overall strategy is to phase out market upgrades through implementing three basic elements: ground surface, roof, and structure.
