As a Nebraska native, I am often asked explain to relatives why I work for HDR, but not in the Omaha office. Conversely, as a die-hard Husker fan, many Coloradans would prefer I return to my home state. Contradicting to some, these two examples of going against the grain can easily be explained by one of my favorite lines of poetry from Robert Frost, "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." Undoubtedly those words have become my life mantra: sometimes for better, sometimes for worse, but always capable of producing great adventure. One day, I hope the road less traveled takes him to the rolling hills of a wine region, where I can combine two of his passions and practice as a vineyard architect.
