About

I am a graduate of Hunter College with a degree in Environmental Science/Biology. Since my studies have ended, I have been involved in many projects within the sustainability field. I was selected in by the Urban Green Council NYC Chapter as a volunteer Programs Committee member to run educational based seminars for Westchester and Rockland Counties. These programs are critical to Urban Green’s educational efforts, complementing the various course series that they offer.  Within my volunteer position I’ve had the opportunity to immerse myself in the most relevant and current sustainable design subjects and play a central role in the local green building community.

On January 18th, 2014, I became a Certified Sustainable Building Advisor(CSBA). As a CSBA, I’ve begun acquiring in-depth knowledge of green building strategies and integrated solutions for environmentally responsible buildings in all sectors of commercial and residential, renovation and new construction, greenfield and redevelopment projects.  The focus of my program entails; Fundamentals of Sustainable Building Design, The Importance of Place, Site, Transportation and Land Use Issues, Energy Efficient Design, “Green” Materials Selection, Indoor Environmental Quality and Health, Water and Site Design, Sustainable Job Site Operations, and Building Operations and Maintenance, Living Building Challenge and Passive House techniques.

Lastly, I've begun internship work with Climate Change and Environmental Services, LLC, (CCES), an environmental and energy consulting firm that specializes in servicing the environmental and energy needs of corporations, municipalities, and industrial facilities. CCES and I are currently working with two lower Westchester municipalities that have started their own Sustainability Initiative Programs. As part of their initiative programs, CCES is working with the municipalities to assess and calculate the Town/Village’s carbon footprint and its overall contribution to climate change. Carbon footprint calculations are conducted by compiling data of electrical usage, natural gas usage, and diesel/gasoline consumption by the municipality. This data is entered into a custom made spreadsheet and generates a yearly value of CO2 tons being emitted into the atmosphere.  Through these calculations, the Town/Village is able to evaluate their current practices and begin to implement more sustainable practices that will be both beneficial to the environment and deliver financial savings. Climate change needs to be addressed at a local scale, and CCES believes that the first step is to lead by example, beginning with the local municipalities.
