Growing up in a retail oriented city - Hong Kong, I have been learning about branding at a very young age. The similarities the brands share in their retail stores and the differences they have in between always capture my attention. I am very attracted to different brands and I always want to know about their brand history and characteristics. As I was earning my degree in Art Center, there were a lot of great chances for me to practice interior architecture with brands. For me, each project is a good chance to learn; learning both about the brand and myself.
Besides branded spaces, I also enjoy hospitality design where I design comfort in a home outside of home for people who are getting away from the real world. I believe vacations are a preparation of a longer journey ahead, and nothing beats a well-designed environment in giving peace at heart.
My favorite parts in designing a space are researching, concept developing and the process of coming up with the final design. I believe that, without a solid concept based on in-depth research, the design would have no meaning, no matter how beautiful it is. I enjoy designing spaces by branding them and letting the space tell the story of the brand. Illumination and graphics also play big roles in my designs.
I explore different designs using various methods: sketch models, drawings and playing around in Rhinoceros. After that, I will apply materials, render in V-Ray and produce technical drawings in Revit or AutoCAD.
