Jonelle has a formal background in urban planning, practical experience as an architect, a passion for learning, and a love of the built environment. Growing up in a rural setting has given her an affinity for the inverse, and drove her to study built space and public policy; culminating with a Masters of Urban Planning degree. Her lifelong fascination to discern how people interact with their built environments has yet to cease; the ability to generate an experience and to influence lives through the built environment is astounding. Jonelle’s holds knowledge of how architecture and space shape a city, how built space can affect the lives of each inhabitant, how residents can influence urban planning, and the impact of design on cities.
Through her travels Jonelle was afforded the opportunity to experience a variety of built and natural spaces, each with a unique populace. She has an inherent ability to observe + analyze spaces and a knack for interpersonal communication. These skills have equipped her with a contextual understanding of places and spaces in global cities; and has provided her the fortune to combine two of her passions: cities and personal narratives.
Jonelle strives to make the world a better place through influencing societal and expert knowledge of urban infrastructures, public policies, shared spaces, communal health and cities through her work as a futurist at Arup focusing on the built environment.
