Patrick Keeney

Patrick Keeney

Washington, DC, US

As an architect for the global design firm RTKL, Patrick pursues the design of high-performance buildings.  Utilizing cutting edge design technologies, he has extensive experience in building simulation and environmental analysis and continuously strives to push the boundaries of performance-based design.

In 2013, Patrick was a leading designer of the Looper, the winning submission for the snoLEAF BIG! “Green” Greenhouse Design Competition.  Aligning itself with the standards of the Living Building Challenge, the Looper challenges the idea of a greenhouse and exploits the potential that the growing of plants inherently cleans an ecosystem.  The Looper has since gone on to win the Award for Global Potential from the SXSW-eco Place by Design Awards.

Patrick completed his Master of Architecture and Master of Science in Sustainable Design degrees at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.   His Master’s thesis pursued the topic of Adaptable Design for Multiple Climates and at graduation, he was recognized with several awards, including The Award for Outstanding Student Work in the Master of Science in Sustainable Design Program.   He received his Bachelor of Art degree in Studio Art and Economics from Bucknell University.
