About

I am a recent graduate of the School of Architecture, University of Limerick (SAUL). Since finishing college, I was re-employed by Coady Partnership Architects (previous experience with CPA includes gap year from college on completing Part I and various short term contracts during college breaks). Throughout my employment, I gained a broad experience in all stages of design through tendering and construction. I am confident in my ability to produce drawings with relevant information for these stages. I have worked on many significant projects in the education sector, including primary, post-primary schools but mainly third level universities. I have also contributed to projects in the healthcare and domestic sectors. In my role, I co-ordinated drawings with all members of the Design Team, from large scale site plans to detail drawings. I have been responsible for ensuring deadlines are achieved by issuing information and construction packages to both client and Design Team members. Drawing on my extensive experience at CPA, I wish to further my career in New York, where I have recently relocated. I hope to advance my knowledge and capabilities in an architectural practice here.

Coady Partnership Architects, Dublin, IE, Graduate Architect (Part II)

On completion of my B.Arch, I returned to the office and became part of a team designing the new ICT Hub for NUI Maynooth. I was responsible for producing tender drawings for room layouts, and various detail drawings for internal walls, ceilings, glazing, furniture and landscaping. I communicated with acoustic consultants and various sub-contractors to tease out the best possible design for our needs.

Following this, I worked on four Rapid Build School projects where the construction stages ran concurrently. As these schools comprised of pre-fabricated concrete panels, there was a constant immediacy for drawings to be accurate and issued efficiently, for subcontractors to continue with their work. This involved a huge amount of co-ordination early on, to minimise conflicts on site.

I also worked on the new School of Science at IT Sligo, Arklow Library & Council Offices, competition entries and master-plan feasibility studies for Letterkenny IT.

Designs used for Civil Eng. module in UL, Other

During my Part II, my designs were chosen to be used as a template for a civil engineering module in UL. The complexity of the structure was challenged by Undergrad Civil Engineers in real-time and it was a rewarding exercise to be a part of.

Winner of Concrete Design Landscape Architecture Competition, 1st Place

This competition was held between SAUL, Ducon Concrete and the people of Inis Meáin, Co. Galway. The brief was to design a pre-cast element which could be located on the island and could be utilised by the inhabitants. My proposal was an 'L'-shaped element which could be manipulated to become a bench, a shelter and various other configurations to accommodate the needs of the island.
