I view my work as a combination of aesthetic and functionality, always thinking of design in terms of people, its users, first — I envision them in the space, think about how the space will make them feel and how they would use it. That’s when I start thinking about design.
Once the design process is complete, I like to think about innovation in terms of materials and construction, seeing how I can use the same things in different ways. I’ve personally supervised the construction of most of my designs, which taught me how to find solutions to design challenges and work well under pressure. It’s amazing to be able to take something from an idea to reality.
