“The way we still think about our cities today, is no longer possible or effective.”
“Solidification of the Sea: Ecumenopolis Updated”, Stefania Triantafyllou, 2013

This was one of the statements of my final year thesis, which passionately explored the work of C.A Doxiadis and called for the urgent need to update the ‘inevitable global city of the future’ that he predicted in the 60s. This city was named Ecumenopolis.

This thesis opens up a wide, long term topic of discussion and debate, which interests me the most and which I continue to develop and update constantly according to the experiences and conversations that I encounter.

I currently follow my conviction that architecture should not only concern the material urban fabric of the world but also the political and institutional conditions that shape and manage this materiality of our cities.

Growing up in the Architectural Association in London (AA) for five years, it has given me the confidence to operate creatively within a strong, fast, rigorous, diverse and complex environment, where debate and constructive interrogation are the main agents of knowledge production. All these skills – especially advanced time management and teamwork abilities – were put into test during my professional experience as an architectural assistant and finally proved extremely valid and productive, while carrying out great responsibilities.

My experiences mentioned above, together with my passion for new long term strategies and new ways of practicing architecture and planning as well as my energetic attitude, I believe is a great basis to an efficient and productive collaboration.

Sincerely,
Stefania Triantafyllou
