About

Aireen Batungbakal earned a bachelors degree in Architecture from Cal Poly Pomona, a Masters of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University, and a Masters in Building Science from the University of Southern California.

In pursuit of licensure through NCARB, Aireen’s interests involve integrating these concentrations. Her interest to approach multi-scaled projects by integrating architecture, urban design, and building performance is demonstrated through her work and involvement with Los Angeles’ Urban Design Studio and USGBC-IE.

She presented work from her MBS thesis research focusing on the acoustic performance of double-skin facades and field-assessment at the BESS-SB Conference (Pomona, CA), the CISBAT 2013 Conference (Lausanne, Switzerland), and the Geodesign International Conference in (Bejing, China).

Her design proposal, "Strengthening Community Interactions in a New Garden City", was recently published in Columbia University’s Re-Cultivating the Garden City of Kumasi.

Her work presented at the BESS-SB13 conference was selected as one of the best 10 papers  of SB13 and will be featured with distinction at the World Sustainable Building 2014 Conference's proceedings (Barcelona, Spain).
