About

I am a recent graduate of The Savannah College of Art and Design (June 2013), receiving a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Furniture Design. Before moving to Savannah Georgia to attend SCAD I grew up in Miami, Florida to parents of both Mexican and Cuban descent. As a result, my designs encompass both of her cultures by her bold use of color, geometry, and textiles. I  owe some of my earliest inspirations for art and design to my late grandfather Manolo Alvarez, who was an illustrator on his free time.

I've been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to work alongside Miami, Florida based interior designer Josefina Esquijarosa since September 2007. It was through working with her that I determined two years later to pursue a degree furniture design.

Traveling, fashion, and architecture are all areas where I seek inspiration for my designs. I believe that design is not a product, design is a way of thinking- it is a process, a process that can solve any problem and improve any situation. My objective is not to create just furniture, but environments through my pieces that constantly challenge the question of what the ideal standard of comfort is.
