I am an architect with experience in the design, construction, and inspection of exterior building enclosures for new and existing structures of all scales.

I enjoy discovering more about the environment we share through learning about the characteristics of building materials, energy flow through assemblies, and sustainable design.  Conceptual sketches, 3D prototyping in sculptural form, and field tests for building component performance are examples of the type of experiments that interest me for looking at the built world.

James R. Gainfort, AIA Consulting Architects PC, New York, NY, US, Project Manager

Maximized energy savings through detailed sketches of enclosure systems including responses to human comfort requirements, and interior and exterior environmental factors.

Worked with Principal to achieve an integration between window and wall systems resulting in appropriate air barriers and air flow, moisture management, and maximum insulation between and over multi-layer components.

Provided hand sketches of all critical components of the exterior enclosure for incorporation into Architect’s C.D.’s.

Provided hand-sketched details to the Architect throughout design development of areas critical to envelope performance, including foundations, exterior wall cladding with support systems, and roofing systems.

Developed wall and roof assemblies to perform in high humidity, warm environments, and conducted thermal analysis and mfr. interviews to ensure performance between window and exterior walls assemblies.

Maintained Architect’s aesthetic intent while exceeding state energy codes.

Helped in the proper execution of details during the construction stages through exterior inspections for quality control, special & progress inspections, and field reports.
