My name is Ali A Alavi. I am an architect by profession and currently completing my Masters in Interior Design from the University of Westminster London UK, graduating in September 2013.
I have always been passionate about the field of design, during my years in college I have interned and worked in various organisations to expand my thoughts and ideas.
I have interned with fashion and design magazines and learnt about media design, coordination and deadlines. I also designed a fashion show set for the first Bridal Asia fashion show in Pakistan as a project for Jang Group.
I consider myself to be a doer and an achiever. My goal was to work for 5 years with professional architecture firms after which to start my own practice. Thus I worked with 2 of Pakistan's premiere architecture firms in residential and interior design. I learnt from my peers about professional design, client services, deadlines, construction, working drawings and project management.
I also have 8 years’ experience in hand drafting, Hand Rendering, AutoCAD, Sketch up. I also am familiar with Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, Word, Power point and Excel.
After 5 years of professional experience and interested in detail design and materials I launched my own furniture design brand which was sold by private exhibition and resulted in 90% sales in two days.
In 2010 I took all the skills I learnt and started my own firm by the name 'Alavi Designs'. Since 2012 I have successfully completed several projects ranging from Residential designs, Renovations, Interior Design, Landscape Design, Retails, Corporate Interiors and Furniture design.
Having worked for my self in both residential and interior design projects I handled all aspects of the projects such as initial sketch, Detail designs, construction drawings, material selection, billing, client services and presentations and project management. I have the ability to multitask and that gives me an edge to handle my work with efficiency and ease.
To add to my personal growth I decided to expand my education and do my Masters in Design. Having Bachelors in Architecture I opted for a Masters in Interior Design to add to my skill set and personal growth.
My next goal is to work in a professional creative environment with like-minded individuals with whom I can share and grow as a designer and I can contribute my skills and experience and learn from theirs.

I was the principal architect here and responsible for every aspect of projects. We dealt with residential design, renovations, retail design and interiors, corporate interiors, furniture design and residential interiors.
Job responsibilities included initial sketch to complete working drawings, client and contractor coordination, material selection, site supervision and project management.

Having a passion for music i hosted a live radio music show 4 days a week during my lunch hours. The say was aired nationally and included music, live calls, and celebrity interviews.

I made initial sketches to be reviewed by team leader, assisting the team leader on site visits and working drawings and coordinating all documents, drawings and correspondence between all vendors, contractors and clients.
