I’m John Hazard, an illustrator, Flash animator, comic book art teacher, and webcomic artist living and working in Manhattan.
I want to draw or animate every day. I want to tell stories, independently or as part of a creative team, that are intelligent, entertaining, and eye-catching.
Whether a product in an animated banner, an avatar in an iPhone game, or a monster in an interactive children's book, I find the human element that will excite the viewer, and open them to be moved, tickled, horrified, taught, or sold.
For ten years I created original art and animation for Nick.com, primarily focusing on avatar creation and game design for The Club (formerly Nicktropolis), a social networking virtual community for kids.
Before that I was Animation Director of short animated sequences for one of their on-air shows.
Long before that I created original designs and licensed art for t-shirts and sleepwear.
I currently teach Humor & Caricature and Photoshop and Illustrator at the Joe Kubert School of Comic and Graphic Art. This is Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I need to find work to fill the rest of the week.
I'm an exceptional traditional illustrator and expert digital artist (Photoshop, Illustrator) and animator (Flash, After Effects & some Maya).
I also write, illustrate, and market my own webcomic.
