ecoREHAB of Muncie, Inc., Muncie, IN, US, Volunteer/Studio Course

I worked with EcoRehab during the school year for my architectural studio. This business helps revitalize areas of Muncie that have been subject to abandonment and poverty. They select students to work for the company to help teach the community about green design, sustainability, and home care through the re-construction of the old home. I had the privilege of renovating an abandoned home in the downtown area of Muncie, Indiana. I went the processes of demolition and clean-up, re-construction, framing, re-flooring, installing windows, building porches and decks, and detailing inside the house. This was a great experience to get an understanding of how the construction world works, instead of just the design world.

krM Architecture +, Anderson, IN, US, Intern

I worked with other interns at developing drawings using Autodesk Revit Architecture and Autodesk AutoCAD programs. I worked on master plans, detail drawings, and layouts for the firm. Some accomplishments for the firm that I took part in were helping switch files over to Revit from AutoCAD programs and completing master plans for a hospital project. I worked on a renovation project for a school system for the last month and a half of my internship, and was able to experience the bid process, ground breaking process, construction processes, and the finished project while working on documents and drawings for that project.
