About

My name is Riccardo Palmieri, 25 years old. I studied at Politecnico of Milan, where I’m about to
gain a master degree in Architecture in April 2013. I am applying as an intern or junior architect,
starting from May 2013.

I attended an international course at Politecnico of Milan and this gave me the opportunity to face
people coming from diverse realities; I learnt how to work in a multi-cultural team and to react in a
prolific manner to situations completely different from mine.

My Bachelor’s Degree thesis was about the design of an ideal museum for Gimbattista Piranesi,
overseen by Professor Pierluigi Panza, among the most distinguished scholars of the engraver.
In this occasion I had the chance to collaborate with the Cini Foundation to set up an exhibition in
Venice dedicated to Piranesi’s Campo Marzio. Besides fostering my interest for art and art shows,
I also learnt how design a web platform, as to elaborate a virtual visit to the exposition.

I’m intensely interested in the urban scale, as I found extremely challenging – and delicate, of
course – the opportunity to make choices influencing a conspicuous number of people. I had the
occasion to travel widely and what impressed me most is the capability of architecture to affect the
way of living. In general, I am persuaded that planning has always to deal with social and political
features as well as with design and constructive issues.

At the present time, I am working on my Master thesis, together with an urban design research
group, exploring the possibility offered by the employ of new tools in rise awareness and foster
appropriation phenomena by dwellers and entitled Digital technologies to enhance the liveability of
the public realm.

I possess good technical and computer skills and I’m very confident in physical model making. My
attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills ensure that every project I work on is done
accurately and to the highest possible standard. I am comfortable working as part of a team but
also have the ability to take an authoritative role when the situation arises.
Up to the present, I have decided to work and collaborate with small architecture and design
companies and these experiences were extremely instructive for me, as I had a direct contact with
all the phases of the design process – from the concepts elaboration to the executive drawings.
Thus, even if my professional experience is still young, I have a hunger to learn and I do it quickly.
I appreciate your work and your research, I believe I'd be up to your expectations and working at
your firm would be dramatically rewarding and productive for my personal growth.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Riccardo Palmieri
