About

To Whom It May Concern:

I am a graduate architecture student at the University of Texas at Austin, who is currently seeking an architecture intern or full time position. I hope to continue my education and experience to the fullest ability, and believe your firm might be able to offer me that opportunity.

Since my graduate study in UT, I have put my focus on sustainable design and regenerative practices. I am an environmental sensitive person who considers the impact between building and environment very seriously. The two-year studies of sustainable design, environment control and energy modeling have given me a solid base and understanding of the complicated process of sustainable architecture.

Beyond that, my degree project extended my interest to public interest design. This project is to propose a prototype of bioclimatic building based on regional climate while maximizing natural ventilation and lighting in Honduras. I am constantly adding to and improving my Master Design Study to generate an intuitive tool and system for architects and business owners alike to utilize. My career goal is to be able to create emotionally nourishing and eco-friendly buildings that can contribute both to daily life and to the changing climate. I am thus extending my knowledge about many details and techniques within this field.

I am proficient in multiple software programs, including Revit, Autocad, Sketchup, Rhino, Adobesuite, 3D rendering, Vasari, Ecotect and Energy Plus. So it will be no problem to build model in either computer or hand drafting, and introduce the further study in energy modeling process. In 2010, I held a full time internship with Frederic Rolland International Architecture Firm, working on construction drawing, 3D modeling, presentation drawing and various office-related tasks. I am a quick learner and a very hard worker, who complete any given task correctly and swiftly. I am also in the process of learning LEED knowledge and preparing for LEED A.P., due to my dedication to sustainable design. I think I can help and assist a lot with these kinds of experience in your office.

If your firm is interested, please let me know. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Yanjing Chen
