About

Hello,

My unique work experience, comprehensive education, and strong personal values are what drives my lifelong goal to enhance our built environment. By working together with many talented professionals,  I have been able showcase my architectural background with a fresh perspective on community planning, sustainability, and design.

My participation with downtown San Diego’s redevelopment design review board, CCAC, has been an incredible learning experience in reviewing proposals and has provided a foundation of urban design principals for future growth. By developing relationships with community leaders, I helped organize and design multiple community plan updates for the San Diego region with a focus on providing more sustainable modes of transportation and land use options. By organizing multiple meetings with community stakeholders, we were able to formulate a community vision that worked to solve problems, promote walkability, enhance livability, and revitalize key neighborhood attributes like our valuable historic icons.

The 5 years with Florman Architects Inc. also enhanced my skills from working on multiple residential, commercial, and master-plan projects. This allowed me to focus on the details of architecture while developing a broad concept of community integration. In addition, I have used these projects to refine my computer skills with CAD, 3D modeling in SketchUp Pro, and forming presentations with Adobe Creative Suite. Balancing my technical skills, I’ve led design charrettes in the communities of Point Loma, East Village, and Normal Heights with the helpful knowledge from a course in Community Consensus Building. My experience has led me to truly believe in the vital role of architecture, planning, sustainability, and urban design in the future of our communities.

My valuable educational experience has taken me across the globe. I began my journey with studying Political Science at Oxford University. Studying abroad not only engaged my scholastic goals but opened doors to cultural understanding and personal growth. I just completed my thesis at the Newschool of Architecture + Design in San Diego, CA. My thesis was centered on civic architecture and I spent a year researching the disconnect between people and their government with the proposal of using architecture to bridge the gap. This project was published in the Union-Tribune and continues to promote discussion on the relevance of local government. Please feel free to contact me about working together to promote the future of our built environment.
