About

I am 21 years old and have just graduated from the University of Plymouth (UK) with First Class Honours. I am looking for an internship/placement in the USA, to gain independence and self-confidence whilst I build upon my experience and knowledge of architecture. I am quick and eager to learn new things, and my learning curve whilst at university has been staggering. I am extremely hard-working and dedicated, as my first class honours and good grades at school show, and my part-time employment has given me transferable communicative skills that mean I thrive on talking and listening to others, and in playing a key role in a team.

I have spent this summer keeping myself as busily involved in the arts as possible, taking up volunteer positions at both a local theatre and an Art gallery, as well as giving a lot of time to my summer job at Ladram Bay Holiday Park, where I was recently invited to become involved in a large-scale redevelopment project that is currently in its early design phase - so I have been contributing ideas and drawings to meetings with the architect managing the project.

I feel that my strengths lie in developing strong creative narratives for projects that are balanced by pragmatic grounding; I never lose sight of the client, and am fascinated by the history and theory of architecture and how these ideas manifest themselves physically and socio-politically in the urban fabric. I also love writing and feel that my dissertation was a particularly strong piece of work from my degree; I read very often and tend to absorb information readily. I am a keen drawer and enjoy rendering my drawings by hand, and I feel that over the course of my time at university, home and school I have developed my own personal style of presentation.

I am organised, as my employment as a private Maths tutor as well as a valued long-term employee at Ladram Bay show, and very enthusiastic about the possibilities of what might come of my future in this industry. My keen appetite for learning as much as possible from new experiences signifies an ability to adapt and evolve very quickly to whatever is asked of me; this is partially why I feel I would thrive and succeed by working and living in the US.

I have a confirmed visa application as well as a full UK driving license, and read and write conversational French and Spanish (I am currently teaching myself Spanish).
