The Stewart Perry Company, Inc., Birmingham, AL, US, Intern
This internship was part of Auburn's Urban Studio (see below). Stewart Perry is a General Contracting firm located on the outskirts of Birmingham, AL. Their team works with many large chains such as Target and Publix, yet still acquire smaller local projects.
During my time as an intern at Stewart Perry I worked alongside contractors and project managers in the construction industry. I was given the unique opportunity to view the industry from a different angle. My tasks included: updating drawing sets, locating and organizing files, product research, calling subcontractors, site visits, etc. I was also given the privilege of designing the entry portfolios for Stewart Perry's entries in the ABC (Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc.) Design Excellence Awards. Two of the three entries won 1st place in their respective categories, and the third won 2nd place.

Each student is picked by the professor of his/her respective studio based on work ethic throughout the course of the semester, ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, and the overall quality of work produced.
